A lot more people will end up happy campers.
It's out of control right now. 90% of the people joining are unsatisfied with the makeup of the team. I know when I monk it feels like 3 out of 4 times I end up on a 2-monk team, sometimes more! It's just stupid and something should be done about it.

If that would happen, RA builds would change, which would completely transform the format. I don't want this to happen.

Let's just make: you cannot join RA with monk skills! And that way everybody would be balanced!

I couldnt disagree more you dont NEED a monk if you have a decent build team. I mean a mesmer could become Me/Mo and take scourge healing and backfire and the monk is screwed.
Also ive experienced sins singling them out for their palm fist move elite thing and that works very effectively A/R with poison tip signet couldnt also potentially make a monks life difficult if they have skills to pile on the degen and conditions.
Lastly if all else fails resto rits are also very good in RA my old build doesnt work anymore and needs some tweaking (removal of spirit and changing caretakers for a heal skill) and then it will be just as efficient.

That would be TA, which they just got through replacing with Codex. I'm not against TA, but RA needs a kick in the pants, especially now that TA is gone.

How so? Declaring your role would be independent of your skillbar. If you wanna be a jerk you can always declare yourself a healer then load up with attack skills. Being able to declare would not enforce a certain skillbar. The idea would be to enhance communication before randomly assigning teams, which I think everybody wants. I think people would be honest, because most people want to be on a good, well-balanced team.

I went on hiatus long before TA was "so dead" but personally I didn't like it because I hated forming groups. I prefer to just press a button and go.

So I played RA for the first time in who knows how long. Anyways, went standard shock axe and played a fair amount of games. I rarely had a monk but when my monkless team faced a team with a monk I still had close to a 50% win ratio. I don't know if people are just exceptionally bad at the game now or what, but whether or not a team had a monk didn't make that much of a difference in the games I played.

Fail.
I've beaten teams with a monk in a team without a monk many times.
Granted most of the time you will lose but maybe 10% you will win. Its still worth playing.
Just the other day I was in the same situation with my War and 3 non healers. We beat a team with a monk and one of the randoms left and we got a monk in the next match and went on to win 7 more.

It's not /resign if you don't have a monk.
It's /resign when you don't have meta.
Seriously, I like to use my rit spiker a lot. But some monks give up if you don't have:
Backbreaker Sin
Magebane Ranger
Blindbot Ele
All on the same team.
It's GG for them, never going to win without meta.

The perfect teams have:
a decent melee. (you can usually tell before the match if they are bad or not)
a decent ranger. (if the ranger is equiping something else than a recurve bow, he's probably bad.)
a decent shutdown character, this can be a bsurge, tabhex necro, vor shitter or even a d/p.
a decent monk, mo/w or mo/a.
If your team has all above, it is very likely you get 25 wins.
I'm a monk, i resign if my team has one of the following: ranger without recurve bow, warrior with charge/defypain/selfheals, another monk, a resto rit without offense, any build that is terrible, people who keep training/pinging the enemy stance monk, someone with 400 hp and so on...
Things were better when ID's, KD's and E/AD's were separated. If you wanted to play with people who actually could press buttons, you went to KD.

Quoted for f*cking truth, I had fun exciting games in KD. Noobs played in AD. Everyone was happy. Now I have to wait it out when my team is full of screwups. That's not a horrible effort ofc because screwups lose fast, but you're very unlikely to get that 'perfect' team people speak off.
On the other hand, I was running RoJ one day and all of a sudden the warior pm-ed me to time it together with his KD spikes. RoJ is definitely not meta but we reeled in 10 wins because we improvised, which is one of the very little fun things about a random team. IMPROVISE <-----
Arena meta bars are BOARING .

Things were better when there was no such thing as glad points.
Back then people played the arena because they enjoyed the arena. Now it is filled with people that can't stand the format, that can't stand the people, playing for some title to e-wank to.

After getting g6, g7 is too far away for me to care about it.. but I still play RA to do something when bored.
I play for fun, but also to win.

See it kinda ticks me off that being able to enjoy RA automatically means you are "terrible". Like most people here, I've played a lot of GW PvP. But unlike some of you, I've never ventured far from RA because A) I don't want to join and coordinate with a guild, and B) I don't want a group of people constantly telling me what to do in order to fit into their plan, or the metagame, or whatever. Being free to do what you want is what makes RA great.
I don't care about status farming, I just want to find new builds that work well. RA is broken in several ways, but it's still the closest thing to what I want. I wish they'd try to make it better. The core problem is that everyone creates their builds to fit in with a specific team setup, but they have no easy way to communicate what they want to the randomizer, and the result is 2 and 3 monk teams. It's just a PITA that's totally avoidable with some design tweaks. TA was reasonable but lacked RA's ability to just click and start your match, which is fundamental to RA's appeal.

I agree with you, but even you admit that your success rate drops to 10% at best Getting put on a no-healer team is annoying no matter how you look at it.

I lol'd.
On topic. RA atm is retarded, people say to roll a monk if you want one so bad, which is much easier said than done. I usually last 2-3 RA matches before i ragequit. Monking for a bunch of fails really is no fun, you can't carry a team with a DP war or flare a spamming necro.
